Retraction – There are some good politicians You're right. You're absolutely right! Those of you who shuddered at last week's broadside against all politicians may pull a seat up to the table while I eat an appetizer of crow. Those of you who didn't shudder, you are welcome too, there's enough room at this table. However, mind you, this is just an appetizer, not a four course meal. I'm not even eating an entire sandwich. Maybe a biscuit, with a side of crow. Whatever the quantity, this is a formal invitation that doesn't come often, so make the best of it. Glory in my humbling now while you have the time. My bad. I'm sorry. I readily admit, after being firmly and faithfully admonished by a reader that I painted myself squarely into a corner using a rather broad brush. For the record, I know that all politicians are not convicts. Not all senators are swindlers. Neither are all congressmen shysters. I was wrong to proclaim such, and I publicly ask forgiveness to those who fill an elected office with honesty, integrity and a pure heart.

How to Pray for Missionaries According to the New Testament “Brethren, pray for us.” (II Thess. 3:1-2) I have made it a habit to mark every prayer passage in the Bible with the letter “P.” One day I surveyed Paul’s prayer requests. This lesson is the product. May it encourage you to thoughtfully pray for those dear people who have left all to follow Christ and fish for men. IntroductionGod wants to hear your prayers for missionaries. A good look at the New Testament shows that the church of the first century prayed much for the one’s they sent out with the gospel. They had an intimate and prayerful connection to them. Take, for example, that agonizing prayer vigil held for Peter as he awaited execution (Acts 12), or that united prayer meeting which centered on one request: “Grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word” (Acts 4:29). Here we find a diligent, fervent, earnest prayer made by a church that had missions at heart. God bless the churches that pray for their missionaries. May God add many more such prayer laborers to their number!

Please pray for Bro. Jerry Sellers today. He is a member of our sending church and missionary to Nepal who is having a heart defibulator put in today. The surgery will be performed at 1:30 CT. Pray specifically that this may improve his health situation, that the doctors would have wisdom, and that God would be glorified through it all. Bro. Sellers, along with his wife, Martha, has been in the ministry for over 40 years serving as a pastor and missionary. They took over a budding ministry in Nepal after the tragic deaths of their daughter, son-in-law, and five grandchildren. MBC Nepal Missions, under Bro. Jerry's leadership currently has an orphanage and widow's home. As well, they work to train and assist national pastors and churches to fulfill the Great Commis sion. His son, Bro. Chad, and his family are currently raising support to serve along side Bro. Jerry and Ms. Martha. They all have my utmost respect and I love them dearly. Thank you for your prayers. Bro. Michael

I Did It!
1 Timothy 1:12-17 (v.13b)- “…but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.” It’s a lot easier to say, “He, she, they, did it,“ than it is to say, “I did it!“ Honest confession strains against our nature. We had rather tell on anybody than ourselves. Now, when it comes to taking credit for the good, we don’t mind saying, “I did it,” but not when it comes to the bad! The Roman author Cicero said, “To confess our wickedness is both disgraceful and dangerous.” But the Bible teaches, “to cover our wickedness is both disgraceful and dangerous.” (Pro.28:13)- “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” It is easy to commit sin, but hard to confess it. Man will transgress without a tempter. He don’t always have to have someone pushing him into it. But even when urged by the most earnest pleader, many will not acknowledge their guilt, and that is a dangerous place to be standing. The ground beneath is quicksand, swallowing up the sinner into the belly of hell!
